Atletico Madrid step back from Ederson; Fiorentina monitor Eray Comert and Liverpool are keen to keep Keyrol Figueroa. Here are some of the main stories over the last few days of the transfer market from transfer expert, Rudy Galetti.

Atletico Madrid step back from Ederson after failed move

Atletico Madrid made a strong push to sign Ederson during the January transfer window, following the successful move of Ademola Lookman to LaLiga. The Spanish club tried until the deadline day to convince Atalanta to let the Brazilian midfielder leave, showing clear determination to complete the deal.

However, Atalanta stood firm. Even after recieving of an offer worth €50 million plus bonuses, the Italian club refused to open negotiations and rejected every attempt from Atletico. The position of the Bergamo-based side was clear from the beginning: Ederson was considered untouchable. The player himself also tried to push for the transfer.

Ederson, for his part, already agreed personal terms with Atletico Madrid on a contract running until 2031, showing his strong desire to take the next step in his career and move to Spain. But now that the transfer window is closed, the situation has changed.

Atletico Madrid have decided not to continue talks for the summer at this stage.

The Spanish club has meanwhile signed Rodrigo Mendoza and, for June, wants to take time to evaluate other options in midfield and could eventually decide to invest the budget in different profiles or even in other areas of the squad.

For Ederson, it may feel like a missed opportunity. However, Atalanta, backed by a contract until 2027, did not want to change their position for any reason and chose continuity over a major sale.

Milan, Betis and Gent keep close eye on Sevi Idriz

AC Milan, Real Betis and Gent have recently sent scouts to follow Sevi Idriz, one of the most interesting young talents emerging from Bulgarian football. The 18-year-old right winger currently plays for Lokomotiv Plovdiv and is considered a player to closely monitor in the coming months, with a possible move in the summer transfer window. Despite his young age, Idriz has already started to gain valuable experience at the senior level.

This season, he has made six appearances between the Bulgarian league and the national cup, providing two assists and showing maturity in his performances.

His pace, confidence on the ball and ability to create chances from wide areas have caught the attention of several clubs across Europe. Idriz is also a regular member of the Bulgaria Under-19 national team. He has already collected seven caps and scored one goal, confirming his importance within the youth national setup.

His international exposure has further increased his visibility and helped place him on the radar of major European clubs. At this stage, no formal talks have been opened, as interested clubs want to continue evaluating his development and consistency.

However, with his progress at the club and international level, Idriz is expected to attract more interest in the weeks and months ahead. The summer could represent an important step in his career, as he prepares for a possible big move abroad.

Fiorentina monitoring Eray Comert

Fiorentina have shown concrete interest in Eray Comert, as the Italian club continues to explore options to strengthen its defence ahead of the summer. The Swiss centre-back is currently under contract with Valencia, but his deal will expire in June, and he is expected to leave the Spanish club as a free agent.

During the January transfer window, Fiorentina had already evaluated the possibility of bringing Comert to Serie A. However, due to the lack of conditions for a January move, no deal was possible at that stage. The situation looks very different for the summer, when the defender will be available without a transfer fee.

Comert, who has already made 18 appearances for the Swiss national team, is considered an attractive profile thanks to his international experience and reliability at the back.

For Fiorentina, he represents a solid and strategic option to improve the squad, especially considering the current league situation and the need for defensive reinforcements. Interest is not limited to Fiorentina.

Other important Serie A clubs have also asked for updated information regarding Cömert’s salary expectations and agent commissions, keeping a close eye on the conditions of a possible deal. With several clubs monitoring his situation and Valencia preparing for his departure, Cömert’s future could become a hot topic in the coming weeks. He remains a player to watch closely as the summer window approaches.

Mauro Icardi was never close to joining Juventus

Mauro Icardi has never been close to leaving Galatasaray to return to Italy, despite recent links with Juventus. It is true that the Italian club asked for some information, but those checks never went beyond an initial and informal stage. There were no advanced talks and no concrete steps taken to bring the Argentine striker back to Serie A.

Even so, Icardi’s future remains open. His current contract with Galatasaray is set to expire at the end of the season, and the next few months will be decisive. The Turkish club considers Icardi a true idol, both on and off the pitch, and are determined to keep him in Istanbul.

For this reason, Galatasaray will continue working in the coming weeks to reach an agreement on a new deal. At the moment, there is still some distance between the two sides.

Icardi is asking for a two-year contract, while Galatasaray have so far put a one-year extension on the table. This difference is the main obstacle, but it is not seen as a final one.

The club remains confident and believes that a compromise can be found. Talks are expected to continue, and another meeting between Icardi and Galatasaray’s management is already planned for the end of February.

Until then, the striker’s future stays undecided, but Galatasaray will do everything possible to keep their star forward.

Liverpool keen to keep Keyrol Figueroa despite interest from top clubs

Keyrol Figueroa is entering an important phase of his young career, with key developments both on and off the pitch. The talented forward is increasingly attracting attention across Europe, while also taking a significant step in terms of representation.

Federico Pastorello is now the new agent of the player, with Figueroa officially joining the P&P Sport Management structure, a move that reflects his growing profile in the international market. From a contractual point of view, Figueroa is currently under contract with Liverpool until June 2026.

Thanks to his strong performances and regular goals, the English club has already opened talks to extend his deal by a further two years. Negotiations are ongoing, underlining Liverpool’s intention to secure the future of a player they rate highly and see as part of their long-term plans.

At the same time, interest from other clubs is starting to increase. Looking ahead to the summer, FC Porto have shown interest from Portugal, while several clubs in Spain’s Segunda División are following him as a promising long-term prospect. In addition, two Scottish clubs have also requested information.

There has been formal interest from New York Red Bulls and Charlotte FC, although a move to Major League Soccer is not considered a priority at this stage. With a new agent, contract talks in progress and growing international interest, Keyrol Figueroa now finds himself at a key moment that could shape the next steps of his career.
