Days after losing to Trabzonspor in the semi-finals of the Turkish Cup, Genclerbirligi won 3-0 at the home of the team that defeated them to secure their spot in the Super Lig.
Meanwhile, Kasimpasa won against a highly rotated Galatasaray side, who were coming off the back of massive celebrations in Istanbul, 1-0, to also avoid relegation.
Antalyaspor were the team sitting in the relegation zone before the weekend started, but were banking on the fact that if they could beat Kocaelispor, they would stay up, because surely one of the other three teams they were hoping to leapfrog would drop the necessary points.
Ultimately, Antalyaspor did win 1-0, so the real drama came at Fenerbahce, as Eyupspor visited knowing that a draw would be enough to keep them up.
Much like Trabzon and Gala, Fener fielded a weakened team with their season done and dusted. And incredibly, Eyup surged to a 2-0 lead in under 35 minutes, making it look like Antalya would be the team sent down.
Yet in a mad 14-minute second-half spell, Fener turned the game completely on its head, with Fred's third goal in his last two games, as well as a Kerem Akturkoglu brace, putting them 3-2 up.
News would have been filtering in to Antalya that, as it stood, they would be staying up. But Eyup were not done.
With three minutes to go of added time, Talha Ulvan - who had been substituted on just a minute earlier - had a deflected strike whistle past Mert Gunok in goal, leading to wild celebrations.
Eyup hung on for a 3-3 draw, so remarkably, they got the result they needed to stay up.
Heartbreak for Antalya. None of the top three teams - Galatasaray, Fenerbahce, or Trabzonspor - could win against teams towards the bottom of the table, meaning, despite Antalyaspor's victory, they would be heading for the 1. Lig.
Antalya have been regulars in Turkey's top division. They have been in the Super Lig since 2015, and have only spent one season in the 1. Lig since 2008/09. They will be desperate to rebound and come straight back up again.
So a thrilling battle for survival capped off another manic, bonkers season in Turkey, but there was some more managerial news to come.

Sergen Yalcin leaves Besiktas
It has been another dismally disappointing season for Besiktas, with their campaign ending with a 2-2 draw at Rizespor.
A season full of inconsistencies, a fourth-place finish, and a semi-final exit in the Turkish Cup at the hands of Konyaspor has left fans furious, especially considering that the team has been heavily invested in.
They are a huge club and one of the 'Big Three' in Turkey, yet they have been left in this awkward no man's land for the last few years.
Since winning the title in 2020/21, they have finished sixth, third, sixth, fourth, and fourth. It is simply not good enough.
This season, they turned to former player and manager Sergen Yalcin, who was in charge when they won the league in 2021, yet it hasn't had the desired effect.
Fans have been protesting in recent weeks, with many calling out the manager and demanding his exit. As a result, he stepped down from his role in the last few days. Alongside Fenerbahce, they are now managerless, with the future totally unknown.
There have often been question marks over Besiktas' recruitment, but I can't help feel the blame this time lies more at the feet of Sergen. They have actually signed some good young players in the last few windows and should be performing far better than they are.
He is quite an emotional character, and it seems like he has lost a lot of the dressing room. I am pretty certain a different manager could have pushed this team to bigger heights.
And I think that is a fitting way to end another season of Super Lig Weekly! The chaos and carnage in Turkish football never cease to amaze, and things often move at a blistering pace.
A lot will change over the next few months ahead of the new season, and I will be back just before the 2026/27 campaign to assess what has happened and look ahead to what lies ahead.
In the meantime, enjoy the World Cup!
Team of the Week

The final Player of the Week of the 2025/26 Super Lig season is Fred, according to our very own internal ratings system, after scoring, making four key passes, and registering a game-high 122 touches against Eyupspor.
