After three successive defeats, Brondby got back to winning ways when they recorded a hard-fought 2-1 win against bitter rivals FC Copenhagen as new coach, Steve Cooper, got a perfect start to his reign at Brondby.

In his debut, Steve Cooper achieved what the two predecessors in the post, Jesper Sorensen and Frederik Birk, could not.

The Welsh his side to defeat FC Copenhagen at Brøndby Stadium.

The 1-0 triumph was not just a victory over the rivals from FC Copenhagen. It was also the first Brondby victory over FC Copenhagen in their own stadium since 24 October 2021. At that time, the head coach was Niels Frederiksen.

Stijn Spierings, who has had a difficult time at Brondby, scored the decisive goal in a match where he was chosen over Brondby's captain, Daniel Wass, who was confined to the bench.

The home side took the lead two minutes before half time when Marcos Lopez hit the boot of Michael Gregoritsch in the box when he was trying to clear the ball, and the Austrian international converted the penalty to bring the Brondby faithful to their feet.

FC Copenhagen got back into the game after 64 minutes when Rodrigo Huescas provided a wonderful cross for Mohamed Elyounoussi to steer home a strong header past Patrik Pentz.

However, Brondby had the last laugh when Luis Binks headed a cross from Sean Klaiber on for the onrushing Stijn Spierings who touched the ball into the open net.
