The former Brondby coach Alexander Zorniger returns to Danish football to replace Soren Krogh as head coach of OB, who were recently promoted to the Danish Superliga.

OB have announced that they have signed Alexander Zorniger as new head coach after their promotion to the Superliga.

He replaces Soren Krogh, who led OB to the top flight this season.

The 57-year-old Zorniger is remembered by Danish football fans as coach of Brondby, who under the German's leadership came close to winning the Danish championship.

He also won a cup title with Brondby.

Zorniger has signed a three-year contract. At OB he will be reunited with sports director Troels Bech, who was also Zorniger's immediate superior at Brondby.

"With promotion to the Superliga, OB are facing a big challenge and significantly stronger opponents", Bech says to the club's website.

"Therefore, we need a gear shift, and we are looking at reinforcements in all positions - including the head coach position - and here it is our assessment that Alexander Zorniger and OB are a fantastic match that can continue our development when the upcoming season ends next summer."

Zorniger was most recently employed by German club Greuther Fürth, where he was in charge for two years before being sacked in October last year.

The experienced coach brings Tamás Bódog and Jurek Rohrberg as assistants to the new coaching staff. Together they will have their first training day at OB, when the team returns after the summer break on 14 June.
