Danish league leaders AGF on Sunday afternoon were pegged back in their efforts to keep up their campaign for the Danish title when they were left to settle for a 1-1 draw against second from bottom Fredericia.

Jakob Poulsen's team looked to be affected by fatigue after Thursday's tough Danish Cup clash against FC Midtjylland, and perhaps that was a contributing factor when the home side took the lead after only four minutes as Sofus Johannesen was left unmarked to steer the ball under the reach of goalkeeper Jesper Hansen.

That prompted the visitors to take control of proceedings at Monjasa Park, and they were rewarded after 30 minutes when a VAR check adjudged Sven Crone to have brought down Gift Links inside the box, and Norwegian playmaker Kristian Arnstad did not waste any time converting the penalty.

Coach Jakob Poulsen attempted to pump some energy into his side during the second half by letting Sebastian Jorgensen, Jannik Serra and Frederik Emmery replace Tomas Kristjansson, Patrick Mortensen and Rasmus Carstensen but despite putting Fredericia under a virtual siege as AGF enjoyed no less than 87% of possession, the team from Aarhus simply couldn't find the winner in a heated end to the match.
