Crystal Palace striker Jorgen Strand Larsen has been isolated from the rest of the Norwegian squad as he has been affected by illness leading up to Norway's first match in the World Cup on 17 June against Iraq.

Last night, the Norwegian national team arrived in Boston, and Monday night, the national team had its first training session at the training ground in Foxborough, Massachusetts. But Jorgen Strand Larsen was missing from the rest of the squad as he has caught fever leading up to the clash against Iraq

"He has caught some fever", says national team coach Stale Solbakken. "It's Ola Sand's (doctor) job, but he wasn't present during the  training or eating, so he'll probably get his food in his room today", said Solbakken.

National team doctor Ola Sand tells NRK.no that Strand Larsen first developed symptoms on Sunday and that they worsened on Monday morning. Sand says that Strand Larsen sat at the back of the plane to Boston wearing a face mask. He is now isolated in his own room.

Regarding the 26-year-old's chances of making an impact for Norway later in the tournament, Solbakken says:

"I spoke to him today. It's not like he's terminally ill, because then we wouldn't have brought him here. So I'm hoping he'll be ready tomorrow."

The rest of the Norwegian squad is fully fit and ready to play against Iraq on 17 June 00.00 CET
