Miroslav Koubek, who has been without a club since leaving Plzen in September, takes over from Ivan Hasek, who was dismissed during the qualifying phase for the next World Cup after a 2-1 defeat to the Faroe Islands.
The experienced coach has signed a two-and-a-half-year contract, with his first challenge being to try to qualify the Czech Republic for the World Cup, something the country hasn't achieved since 2006.
In the European playoffs, the Czechs will face Ireland, and if they win, they will play either Denmark or North Macedonia for a spot at the 2026 World Cup.
If they manage to qualify for the tournament in the United States, Canada, and Mexico, the Czech Republic already knows they will be in Group A alongside the Mexicans, South Africa, and South Korea.
