The two nations were placed together in Group L, alongside England and Panama, following Friday’s draw in Washington DC.
On paper, Croatia, who were finalists in 2018 and semifinalists in 2022, will be viewed as one of the favourites to progress from the group.
Ghana, meanwhile, arrived in the draw as one of the lowest-ranked teams in the tournament. But Dalić insists that rankings and seedings will not dictate how his team approach their matches.
The Croatia coach highlighted his familiarity with Ghanaian football, referencing his friendship with former Black Stars captain Asamoah Gyan, whom he coached at Al Ain in the UAE.
“I know my friend Asamoah Gyan. He played with me when I was in LA,” Dalic told Flashscore.
Dalic stressed that Ghana’s athleticism, intensity and unpredictability make them a dangerous opponent for any team, regardless of their ranking.
“I know there will be tough games. Ghana’s team is very strong and fast and it is not going to be easy for us.”
With England also in the group and Panama emerging as a competitive side in CONCACAF, Dalic emphasised the need for Croatia to approach the tournament with caution and discipline.
“Our goal and target is to go past the group stage. We are going to take it step by step. It will not be easy. Full respect for the Ghana team. I know they will not be easy opponents.”
Croatia will open their 2026 World Cup campaign against England before meeting Ghana in the last group game.
