The Jordan Football Association (JFA) has announced Turkey as the new venue for this month’s four-nation invitational tournament involving Nigeria, Iran and Costa Rica.

The tournament was originally billed for the Jordanian capital of Amman; however, the nation's federation have moved it to the Turkish city of Antalya "due to the current situation in the region and the limited movement of people."

"The Jordan Football Association has decided to move the matches of the four-team international friendly tournament, scheduled for March 2026, to be held in the Turkish city of Antalya, due to the current situation in the region and the limited movement of people.

"The four-team tournament will be held with the participation of the Jordanian national team, along with Iran, Nigeria and Costa Rica, as part of the preparations," a statement from their website read.

According to the tournament schedule, the Jordan national team will open its campaign against Costa Rica on Friday evening, March 27th, while Iran will face the Super Eagles on the same day.

Four days later, the hosts will take on Nigeria, while Iran will play its second match against Costa Rica.

Interestingly, the event coincides with the Inter-Continental World Cup playoffs. Nigeria have petitioned FIFA over DR Congo’s alleged use of ineligible players during the African playoffs.

Should FIFA rule in the West Africans’ favour, the Super Eagles could withdraw from the Amman tournament.

For Iran and Jordan, the competition will serve as preparation for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Iran are in Group G alongside Belgium, Egypt, and New Zealand, while Jordan will compete in Group J against Algeria, Argentina, and Austria.

The Jordan national team will hold its final training camp ahead of the World Cup finals in May and June. During the camp, they will face Switzerland on May 31st, in St. Gallen, before travelling to the United States to take on Colombia on June 7th, in San Diego.

The team will then base its official World Cup camp in the American city of Portland.
