Ghana head coach Otto Addo says the Black Stars will approach every game at the 2026 FIFA World Cup with the intention of winning, after the team was drawn in Group L alongside England, Croatia and Panama.

The draw, held on Friday in Washington DC, placed Ghana in one of the tournament’s most competitive groups, pairing them with two European powerhouses and a Panama side that has shown consistent growth over the last few years.

England head into the competition as one of the favourites, while Croatia remain one of the most experienced national teams on the global stage. Panama, appearing at their second World Cup, are expected to be a difficult opponent despite being considered the underdogs in the group.

Reacting to the outcome, Addo insisted Ghana will not shy away from the challenge and will seek to start strongly in order to create momentum in the tournament.

"We want to win every match, this is for sure. Once we get a good start then anything is possible," he told Flashscore.

"On a good day, I know we can beat everyone but I know also we can lose against all of those teams, also Panama, if we underrate them.”

The Black Stars have not reached the knockout stage since 2010, but Addo believes the team has the capacity to progress if they approach each fixture with the right mentality.

"We have to take it step by step. We want to go to the knockout stage and once we get there, anything is possible.

"We have to really take it serious to beat Panama. It's going to be tough for us no doubt but this is our target to make the next round,” he added.

Ghana will open their campaign in June, as they aim to advance from the group stage for the first time in 16 years.
