Clara Tauson will face the Hungarian Dalma Galfi, ranked 93rd in the world, in the first round of the Australian Open. That was the result when the draw for the tournament was made on Thursday in Melbourne.

Should Tauson manage to get past the first hurdle, she will face Uzbekistan's Polina Kudermetova, provided that Uzbekistan wins her first match against a qualifier.

Tauson has never before faced Kudermetova, who is ranked 150th in the world.

If Tauson then advances to the third round, she will most likely face Canadian teenage sensation Victoria Mboko.

The Canadian teenager, who had her big break last year with tournament wins in Montreal and Hong Kong, is ranked 17th in the world. Tauson and Mboko have never faced each other before.

If Clara Tauson comes through her first three matches unscathed, then the potentially most difficult task of all awaits in the fourth round, where she is likely to face the World No.1, Aryna Sabalenka.

Although the Belarusian looks formidable, Tauson managed to defeat her in Dubai last year and evened the head-to-head record to 1-1.

Just a month after Sabalenka beat Tauson in the third round of last year's Australian Open, the Dane claimed revenge with a 6-3, 6-2 victory over the World No.1 in Dubai.

If the Dane wins her first four matches, and the seeding holds up, Tauson will then face Italian Jasmine Paolini in the quarter-final, while American Coco Gauff awaits in the semi-final.
