After her bright start to the season Clara Tauson entered the match as heavy favorite for her first match at the WTA 1000 tournament Miami Open against World No 373, Julia Grabher of Austria.
But even though Tauson is number 23 in the world and seeded number 20 in the tournament, the Austrian did not make things easy for the Danish favorite throughout the match.
Tauson did manage to battle her way through with a 6-4, 7-5 win and now advances to the third round where she will meet the the 10th seeded Spaniard Paula Badosa.
Tauson got off to a bad start and was broken in the first game of the match, but the 22-year-old Dane was able to break back immediately.
Grabher then managed to keep up the pace until 4-4, when Tauson also showed her class and took two successive games without losing a single point.
The second set was also very even with Tauson struggling to produce her best tennis.
Both players had several chances to break each other, but could not make it count.
In the end Tauson managed to copy her performance from the end of the first set by winning two successive games to win the match after just 90 minutes of play on the hard court surface.
