The day's final match sees world number nine Maria Sakkari (27) taking on Rebeka Masarova (23).  

23:17 CET - Mayar Sherif (26) has sensationally upset world number five Caroline Garcia (29) at the Madrid Open. The Egyptian beat the French star 7-6(2), 6-3.

22:30 CET - Stefanos Tsitsipas (24) has come back to beat Dominic Thiem (29) 3-6, 6-1, 7-6(5) at the Madrid Open in the last men's match of the day.

17:35 CET - World number six Coco Gauff (19) has been bundled out of the Madrid Open by Paula Badosa (25). The Spaniard made light work of the young American, winning 6-3, 6-0.

07:45 CET - There has actually already been some tennis played in the Spanish capital today with a three-and-a-half-hour epic between Roberto Carballes Baena (30) and Alexander Zverev (26) finishing well past midnight. 

The German ultimately prevailed 6-7, 7-5, 6-0.
