The US Open is now in its 145th edition, and each day of the last Grand Slam of the season throws up unique stories and duels. The Flashscore editorial team has picked out three of the most interesting matches on Wednesday's schedule.

Felix Auger-Aliassime vs Alex de Minaur

17:30 CET, Arthur Ashe Stadium.

If the matches involving Alcaraz, Sinner and Djokovic tend to be a foregone conclusion for the crowd, this battle between Auger-Aliassime and De Minaur offers the hope of a five-set thriller.

While the head-to-head record between the pair is even at 3-3, it's worth noting that Auger-Aliassime has won all three of their matches on a hard court. Probably the most important one took place in the 2022 Davis Cup final, when it was his triumph over De Minaur that secured a historic victory for Canada.

De Minaur has been in the quarter-finals of a Grand Slam on five occasions, but each time he has faced a stronger opponent. This time it's a glorious opportunity for the Aussie, as he targets a maiden appearance in the last four of a major.

Amanda Anisimova vs Iga Swiatek

19:30 CET, Arthur Ashe Stadium.

Remember the recent Wimbledon final? It ended with Swiatek winning 6-0, 6-0. And yes, on the other side of the net stood the helpless Anisimova, for whom the London tournament was the culmination of a great comeback in the sport.

Of course, failing to win a single game in the final did not please the American, but she seems to have remained in a positive mood, and her performance at the US Open confirms that she is one of the world's top players.

Swiatek is currently on a streak of nine wins in a row, having also claimed the Cincinnati Open title, so Anisimova faces a tough challenge to gain revenge for their Wimbledon non-contest.

Karolina Muchova vs Naomi Osaka

01:30 CET, Arthur Ashe Stadium.

Muchova has been in the semi-finals twice in a row at the US Open, and last year she knocked out Osaka in the second round. But unlike the Japanese star, she doesn't have the achievement of winning the New York Grand Slam yet. Her opponent has done it twice before, in 2018 and 2020.

Both will be competing at a Grand Slam for the third time in the past calendar year. Their last clash was in January at the Australian Open, where Osaka gained revenge for Muchova's win in New York. However, it was only a second-round match again.

This time, the two exceptional players meet in the quarter-finals. Muchova has had four gruelling three-set battles, while Osaka, on the other hand, has saved her strength, losing a single set on her way to the last eight and playing like a newborn player under coach Tomasz Wiktorowski.
