Friday at Wimbledon will feature both men's semi-finals. Many are calling the clash between seven-time champion Novak Djokovic and his fierce rival, the reigning champion Jannik Sinner, the tournament's premature final. Alexander Zverev will also face British sensation Arthur Fery for a place in the final.

Fery vs Zverev - 14:30 CET

Match news and form

Arthur Fery began his Wimbledon campaign by losing the opening set to Damir Dzumhur in the first round, but from that point onwards, his run gathered incredible momentum, with the fairytale carrying him all the way to a completely unexpected semi-final appearance, undoubtedly an even bigger surprise than Matteo Arnaldi's run to the French Open semi-finals just a few weeks ago. Along the way, Fery has overcome several stern tests, defeating in-form players Otto Virtanen and Zizou Bergs, proven grass-courter Grigor Dimitrov, and last month's French Open finalist Flavio Cobolli in the quarter-finals.

Fery, who represented France at the under-12 level before switching allegiance to Great Britain, is the first French-born player to reach the Wimbledon semi-finals since the 2016 edition and the first British player to do so since Cameron Norrie's run in 2022. He has also become the first wildcard entrant to make the last four at the All England Club since Goran Ivanisevic's famous title-winning run in 2001.

Regardless of what happens from here, this fairytale run has already transformed the trajectory of Fery's career. After spending months chasing a maiden top-100 ranking, he is now set to break into the top 50 for the first time and currently sits at a career-high No. 36 in the live rankings.

Every player needs a bit of luck in their pursuit of a Grand Slam title, and Alexander Zverev appears to be enjoying plenty of it in recent weeks after years of suffering heartbreaking setbacks on the biggest stage. He captured his maiden major title at the French Open without facing a top-10 opponent, and now finds himself with the opportunity to take on a player ranked outside the top 100 in the Wimbledon semi-finals.

It gives him an excellent chance to reach the final while conserving both time and energy, potentially handing him a significant physical advantage over either Jannik Sinner or Novak Djokovic, who are expected to emerge from a far more demanding semi-final.

Getting such a favourable semi-final matchup on grass is a massive opportunity for Zverev, considering it has historically been his least successful surface. Despite an otherwise outstanding career, he has reached only three grass-court finals, all in Germany, with two of them coming in the previous decade in Halle in 2016 and 2017. Moreover, he is still chasing his first career grass-court title and owns a poor record against top-ranked opponents on the surface. All things considered, this may be the best opportunity he would ever get to reach his maiden Wimbledon final.

Head-to-head

These two players have never met before.

Stats & facts

Fery's only previous meeting with a top-five player also came at Wimbledon, when he lost to Daniil Medvedev in straight sets in 2023.

Fery is bidding to become the first British man to reach the Wimbledon final since Andy Murray in 2016.

Zverev has suffered only one defeat to a player ranked outside the top 100 at a Grand Slam this decade, against Michael Mmoh at the 2023 Australian Open while returning from a long injury layoff.

Zverev is 4-7 in Grand Slam semi-finals, with all seven of his defeats at this stage coming against top-five opponents.

Betting analysis

Fery has developed into a very tricky opponent throughout this Wimbledon campaign. Backed by passionate home support, he has consistently elevated his level, while his opponents have often struggled with the pressure of facing what appears to be a golden opportunity, something that was evident in Cobolli's below-par quarter-final performance.

However, Zverev is unlikely to fall into the same trap. His vast big-match experience and outstanding Grand Slam pedigree, particularly against opponents he is favored to beat, make him a clear favorite to progress, most likely in straight sets or four.

Sinner vs Djokovic - 16:30 CET

Match news and form

Jannik Sinner has not displayed the ruthless, relentless dominance that has become synonymous with his Grand Slam campaigns over the past couple of years. Unlike his usual runs, where he routinely dismantles opponents with a string of one-sided sets, nearly every player he has faced at this Wimbledon has managed to keep the scoreline respectable.

In fact, across his five matches, there has been only a single 6-2 set and not a single 6-1 scoreline, a surprising statistic for a player who typically produces those margins with remarkable regularity. Even so, with Carlos Alcaraz not in the draw, Sinner remains the clear favorite to go all the way and successfully defend his Wimbledon title.

The world No. 1 would not have imagined arriving at Wimbledon still chasing his first Grand Slam title of the season while also defending his crown. Instead, that is exactly where he finds himself after suffering two unexpected setbacks earlier this year, a frustrating five-set semi-final defeat to Novak Djokovic at the Australian Open and a shock second-round loss to Juan Manuel Cerundolo at the French Open. Nevertheless, Sinner still has the opportunity to finish the season with two Grand Slam titles, something he has achieved only twice before, in 2024 and 2025.

Nobody has mastered the art of winning Grand Slam matches better than 24-time major champion Novak Djokovic. Even at the age of 39, despite his declining physical condition, he continues to find ways to prevail through his unmatched belief, experience, and composure. His recent victory over Felix Auger-Aliassime was yet another reminder of why he has remained the benchmark at Grand Slams for well over a decade. The Serbian battled for 5 hours and 15 minutes to overcome Auger-Aliassime, an opponent 14 years his junior, in what became the longest Wimbledon quarter-final in history and the longest match of his career at the All England Club.

Simply coming away with a victory from a physical battle of that magnitude at the age of 39 is an astonishing achievement and only adds further to Djokovic's already unmatched Grand Slam legacy. The concern, however, is the physical price he may have to pay in the semi-final against Sinner, where every ounce of energy could prove decisive against the world's best player. Much will depend on how quickly Djokovic can recover.

Regardless of his physical condition, he is certain to leave everything on the court, knowing this represents a rare opportunity to add another Grand Slam title. Unlike most recent majors, where he has had to beat both Sinner and Alcaraz to lift the trophy, this time he needs to overcome only one of them, making it a golden opportunity he will be desperate to seize.

Head-to-head

Sinner leads 6-5 (8-5 including exhibition matches). Djokovic once held a commanding 3-0 lead in this rivalry, but Sinner has since completely turned the tables, handling the Serbian in a way few players ever have. The Italian has gone on a five-match winning streak and has overturned the deficit to establish an overall lead in the head-to-head.

Stats & facts

Sinner holds a 1-1 record in Wimbledon semi-finals, with his only defeat at this stage coming against Djokovic in 2023.

Sinner has lost only three Grand Slam semi-final matches in his career, and two of those defeats came against Djokovic.

Djokovic is a seven-time Wimbledon champion and is bidding to equal Roger Federer's record of eight men's singles titles at the All England Club.

Djokovic owns a 10-4 record in Wimbledon semi-finals, with his most recent defeat at this stage coming against Sinner in 2025.

Djokovic has defeated the world No. 1 four times at Grand Slams, with three of those victories coming in the semi-final stage.

Betting analysis

Djokovic won their most recent meeting in the Australian Open semi-finals, a result that will undoubtedly be on the minds of both players. However, Sinner was arguably the better player that day and failed to capitalize on a host of break-point opportunities in the deciding set. Djokovic was also in much better physical condition in Melbourne, having received a fourth-round walkover and spent only limited time on court in the quarter-final after Lorenzo Musetti retired.

This time, the situation is very different. He arrives after a grueling five-hour quarter-final, which is bound to have taken a physical toll. Even for someone with Djokovic's legendary resilience, that could prove decisive against the world No. 1. While Sinner has not looked quite as dominant as in previous Grand Slam campaigns, he still appears well placed to control this matchup and progress to the final.
