Henman Hill, strawberries and cream, all in white and grass courts - It is that time of the year again. Wimbledon 2025 is here, and it promises to be as enthralling as ever.

23:54 CET - Like Fritz, world number three Alexander Zverev will also be going to bed breathing a sigh of relief after saving four set points before edging a tiebreak that levelled his match with Arthur Rinderknech up at one set apiece.

That clash will also finish tomorrow, and if it's a day half as good as this one, we're all in for a treat!

See you in the morning!

23:47 CET - Fifth seed Taylor Fritz has just about survived the night, edging a fourth-set tiebreak to take his clash with Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard into a decider, which will be played tomorrow. He'll be pleased with that given he was two sets to love down a few hours ago.

22:45 CET - With darkness falling, the two remaining matches on the smaller outdoor courts have been suspended and will resume tomorrow.

With the help of floodlights, Alexander Zverev and Taylor Fritz are both still going, but will need to have their matches wrapped up before the 23:00 (00:00 CET) curfew if they don't want to come back tomorrow.

That being said, that may be the best-case scenario for Fritz with the American two sets to one down against big-serving young talent Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard.

22:15 CET - In the final women's matches of the day, 24th seed Elise Mertens and 31st seed Ashlyn Krueger have beaten Linda Fruhvirtova and Mika Stojsavljevic respectively.

21:50 CET - Yet another big name has been knocked out on the men's side of the draw, with 2022 runner-up Matteo Berrettini - struggling with his fitness - losing 4-6, 6-2, 6-4, 5-7, 6-3 to world number 109 Kamil Majchrzak.

21:44 CET - What has been an incredible day for British players gets a fitting ending! Katie Boulter has lit up Centre Court by beating ninth seed Paula Badosa 6-2, 3-6, 6-4!

21:04 CET - Naomi Osaka has picked up a much-needed 6-4, 7-6 (4) win over Australian qualifier Talia Gibson to advance to the next round.

20:45 CET - Women's fourth seed and last year's runner-up Jasmine Paolini has fought back from a set down to beat Latvian player Anastasija Sevastova 2-6, 6-3, 6-3.

On the men's side, Russian pair Andrey Rublev and Karen Khachanov have both moved into the second round.

20:00 CET - Emma Raducanu proved why she is Britain's number one with a controlled and assertive 6-3, 6-3 victory against fellow Brit Mingge Xu

The 17-year-old showed plenty of encouragement for the future, however, putting up a good fight and producing some brilliant winners to keep Raducanu on her toes.

In the end, Raducanu's experience on this stage was the difference as she booked her place in the second round.

19:40 CET - 2023 champion Marketa Vondrousova has cruised into the second round with a ruthless 6-1, 7-6 (3) victory against McCartney Kessler.

19:32 CET - World number 421 Henry Searle loses on his home debut at Wimbledon, but not without putting up a fight against fellow youngster Ethan Quinn as the American downed the Brit in four sets to win 4-6, 6-2, 7-6 (11), 6-2.

19:20 CET - Well, far from his best from holder Carlos Alcaraz, but he did increase his level in the fifth set, finding his first serve and reducing the unforced errors.

That improved level helped him to see out a challenging match against Fabio Fognini in the Italian's farewell to Wimbledon - some farewell at that. The Spaniard edged the five-set thriller 7-5, 6-7 (5), 7-5, 2-6, 6-1.

19:10 CET - Meanwhile, 25th seed Felix Auger-Aliassime has avoided a scare of his own as he wins in five sets 6-2, 3-6, 6-7 (2-7), 6-4, 6-4 against Australia's James Duckworth.

18:42 CET - Back on the women's side of the draw, and world number eight Madison Keys has survived a mini scare to win in three sets 6-7 (4-7), 7-5, 7-5 against Elena Ruse.

18:32 CET - A decider it is after a dominant fourth set from Fognini saw him break Alcaraz twice on his way to winning 6-2!

You still back last year's winner to find a way through, but this has been an off day like rarely seen before in the Spaniard's fledgling career.

18:16 CET - Another British player exits as debutant wildcard and 16-year-old Hannah Klugman loses to former US Open finalist Leylah Fernandez. The Canadian 29th seed won 6-1, 6-3.

18:02 CET - A second top ten seed of the day bites the dust on this unpredictable and upset-ridden opening day at Wimbledon! Number nine seed Holger Rune is the latest casualty as the Danish player lost in a five-set thriller against Chile's Nicolas Jarry.

The Chilean produced some gritty tennis to come from two sets down to claim a stunning 4-6, 4-6, 7-5, 6-3, 6-4 victory.

17:55 CET - Rising star Joao Fonseca has upset the home crowd by cruising past British player Jacob Fearnley 6-4, 6-1, 7-6 (7-5).

It was a statement win against a player on the rise on the ATP tour and up against a vocal home crowd.

17:47 CET - Still far from convincing, but Carlos Alcaraz eventually takes the third set against Fabio Fognini 7-5 to move within a set of the second round.

17:20 CET - After an encouraging start to her grass court season, 12th seed Diana Shnaider has won in straight sets 7-6 (7-5), 6-3 against Moyuka Uchijima.

16:58 CET - This is proving to be quite the day for British players! Wildcard Arthur Fery, ranked 461 in the world, has beaten 20th seed Alexei Popyrin 6-4, 6-1, 4-6, 6-4!

The world number 15, Diana Shnaider, is also through thanks to a 7-6, 6-3 win over Moyuka Uchijima of Japan.

16:47 CET - 21st seed Beatriz Haddad Maia has claimed a 7-6, 6-4 win over Rebecca Sramkova to move into the next round.

16:40 CET - Something very unexpected is happening on Centre Court, with Fabio Fognini levelling things up at one set apiece against Carlos Alcaraz! The reigning champion is struggling - he made 20 unforced errors in that second set.

15:55 CET - Another heavyweight has fallen! Stefanos Tsitsipas has been forced to retire while trailing French qualifier Valentin Royer 6-3, 6-2.

We've also had our first five-setter of the tournament, which has been won by Jordan Thompson - the Aussie has fought back from two sets down and beaten Cit Kopriva 3-6, 4-6, 6-3, 7-6, 6-1.

15:22 CET - World number one Sabalenka has eased through, beating Branstine 6-1, 7-5 in one hour and 14 minutes.

On the men's side, the first seed has fallen, with Grand Slam champion Daniil Medvedev losing 7-6, 3-6, 7-6, 6-2 to Frenchman Benjamin Bonzi.

14:37 CET - The big names have joined the party, with Carlos Alcaraz out on Centre Court and about to get underway against Fabio Fognini while Aryna Sabalenka is a set up on Carson Branstine.

14:24 CET - In a real fairytale story, 21-year-old Brit Oliver Tarvet has won what was his first-ever tour-level match!

The world number 733, and lowest ranked player in the draw, has beaten fellow qualifier Leandro Riedl 6-4, 6-4, 6-4 to move into the second round, where he'll most likely face Carlos Alcaraz.

14:05 CET - The first winner in this year's men's draw is Frances Tiafoe, with the 12th seed beating Elmer Moller 6-3, 6-4, 6-2.

Another big name is out on the women's side, with world number 21 Jelena Ostapenko losing 7-5, 2-6, 6-2 to British player Sonny Kartal.

13:46 CET - Our fourth winner of the day is Cristina Bucsa, who has defeated Anca Alexia Todoni 6-4, 6-4 to advance.

13:34 CET - The first big name to drop out of the tournament is Ons Jabeur. The twice former runner-up at Wimbledon has retired hurt from her opening-round match against Viktoriya Tomova, who was leading the clash one set to love. Shame to see the Tunisian go so early.

13:29 CET - Following up Svitolina, Donna Vekic is also through to the second round on the women's side at Wimbledon after beating Kimberly Birrell comfortably, 6-0, 6-4.

13:20 CET - We have our first winner at Wimbledon 2025! Elina Svitolina has got off to a flying start as she wasted no time in dispatching Anna Bondar 6-3, 6-1 in double quick time.

The two-time former Wimbledon semi-finalist is one to watch this week.
