The Athletics signed left fielder Tyler Soderstrom to a seven-year, $86 million contract extension on Thursday - making it the largest guaranteed deal in franchise history.

Soderstrom's deal includes a club option after the seventh year and can max out at $131 million.

The 24-year-old had a breakout third year for the Athletics last season, hitting 25 home runs and 93 RBI with a .276/.346/.474 slashline.

Soderstrom was drafted 26th overall in the 2020 MLB Draft by the Athletics. He made his debut in 2023, hitting a brutal .160 batting average in his first 45 games.

A year later, Soderstrom would still struggle after hitting .233 with nine home runs in 61 games. Now, the young outfielder has developed into one of the Athletics' top hitters and will continue to be so for the next seven years.

Since relocating, the Athletics haven't been hesitant about signing their young stars to contract extensions, including outfielders Lawrence Butler (seven years, $65.5 million) and Brent Rooker (five years, $60 million).
