Lyonnes, Barcelona, Chelsea cruise
12 - They were made to work for it, but OL Lyonnes ended up running away with a 3-0 success over St. Polten. Jule Brand got the opening goal before adding an assist to complete the scoring. The record champions have started off their UWCL campaign with two wins, but have been challenged so far. In the all-time head-to-head, Lyonnes have now scored 12 times against the Austrian side, winning the three contests.
7 - A Janina Minge penalty deep into stoppage time saved Wolfsburg as they edged Valerenga 2-1 in Norway. The Frauen Bundesliga outfit dominated proceedings, holding 70% of the possession and amassing 20 shots. It is another one-goal defeat for Valerenga to go with last week's reverse, leaving them without a point after two rounds. For Wolfsburg, they made it seven without defeat versus Norwegian (6-1-0).
5 - Last spring's finalists Barcelona, scored less than two minutes before adding three more in the second half to top AS Roma 4-0. Unsurprisingly, the Catalans took control of the game, completing 794 passes in the 90 minutes. There was no stopping them, as Roma had just one attempt on target. After losing in their opening group stage away game last term, Barca have won their last five away games in the UWCL.
4 - In what was their third meeting, Chelsea continued their solid record against Paris FC, beating the side from the French capital 4-0. A pair of goals in each half did the damage for the eight-time English champions, allowing them to recover from their shocking draw last time out. The Blues seem to like scoring four times against Paris FC - all three of the clubs' matches have ended in the former finding the back of the net on four occasions.
22 - OH Leuven's remarkable run continued as they prevailed 2-1 over Twente in the battle of the Belgian and Dutch champions. The goals came late for the hosts, with Sara Pusztai netting the winner in the 96th minute. They stay undefeated in their maiden European campaign, collecting their third win. Unfortunately for Twente, they could not build off their stunning result last week. They have now conceded 22 goals all-time in the UWCL group phase.
United keep another clean sheet
3 - Breaking down Manchester United is proving to be quite the challenge for teams in Europe this term. Despite going down a woman before the break, the Red Devils held off Atletico Madrid 1-0 in the Spanish capital. Fridolina Rolfo got the game's lone goal, making it two wins from two for the WSL club. Despite mustering 18 shots in the match - five of which were on target - Atleti could not break down their opponents. That is now three straight clean sheets in Europe for United, and five on the year.
6 - It was more disappointment for Paris Saint-Germain in the Women's Champions League. They fell 2-1 at home to Real Madrid in what some would consider to be a surprising result. The hosts were already behind by two at the interval and could not overturn the deficit. PSG being on zero points after two matchweeks is perhaps the biggest shock in this maiden league phase. Including qualifiers, the Ligue 1 Feminin giants are on a six-game losing streak in the UWCL.
10 - Beth Mead and Alessia Russo got Arsenal back on track as the Gunners rebounded from last week's reverse to top Benfica 2-0. The Portuguese champions were competitive against the UWCL holders, but could not find the net in the defeat. That was their third effort versus English opposition, and just like the other two occasions - both versus Chelsea - Benfica ended up on the wrong side of the final score. In those three matches, they have conceded 10 times.
13 - Beating Bayern Munich on German soil is proving to be quite difficult for teams in Europe, especially during the group phase. Lea Schuller put in a 94th-minute winner to see her side past Juventus 2-1. Although they have conceded the third most goals in the league phase thus far, the Bavarians are right back on track. Juve will be left gutted to not claim a point. In the end, Bayern stay undefeated at home in the UWCL group stage/league phase (10-3-0).
