Washington Commanders cornerback Marshon Lattimore was arrested on Wednesday night during a traffic stop in Lakewood, Ohio, for carrying a concealed weapon.

Lattimore was booked into jail that night and released at a later time, possibly facing a second charge for mishandling a firearm in a vehicle.

"We have been made aware of the arrest and are gathering more information. We ‌have informed the NFL League office and have no further comment at this time," the Commanders said in a statement on Thursday.

The 29-year-old has only played in 12 games for the Commanders (nine this season) since the team acquired him in a trade with the New Orleans Saints in 2024, recording 31 tackles and one interception.

Lattimore is currently heading into the final year of his current five-year, $97.6 million contract and is due $18.5 million next season ($2 million from signing bonus). Should they release him, Washington would save just as much cap space.

The veteran corner is a former 2017 Defensive Rookie of the Year after he posted five interceptions, 18 pass deflections, with 52 tackles and a forced fumble.

He would make the Pro Bowl three more times in the next four years, developing a reputation in New Orleans as one of the game's best young corners. But Lattimore's career has seen better days.
