"I always wanted to see my name on the Manchester United page, but not like this," says Betinho, who currently represents SC Espinho, from Aveiro's Elite Division (fifth tier of Portuguese football).
"It was curious, because I started receiving messages out of the blue, without understanding what was going on. Then I understood that it was a failure on their website," he reveals, explaining that those who know him take the question "as a joke, obviously, because a situation like this is quite strange."
Formed in Sporting, Betinho was pointed as one of the great promises in Alvalade, having been several times the best scorer of the youth teams of the club, where he made his senior debut. He then played for Vitória de Setúbal, Brentford in England, Belenenses, União da Madeira, Lusitânia de Lourosa, BSad and SC Espinho, the club he still represents.
"A few years ago I played for big clubs, but now that I'm playing in the Aveiro district a "proposal" like this comes along," jokes the forward, who rules out a new move to England.
"I'm quite well where I am," he says.
Asked by Flashscore, João Pinto, sports director of Espinho, assured that "Betinho is non-negotiable".
"Manchester United has to pay a clause of 150 million euros," pointed out.
