Miami Marlins ace Sandy Alcantara recorded his 1,000th career strikeout during Friday's matchup against the Pittsburgh Pirates.

Alcantara, 30, became just the 26th Dominican pitcher ever to achieve the feat.

The former 2022 Cy Young Award winner had one of the hottest starts to the season but has since cooled off. Heading into Friday, Alcantara was tossing a 4.33 earned run average, giving up 43 runs on 91 hits and 22 walks through 89.1 innings with 64 strikeouts.

Earlier in the season, Alcantara completed his 13th career complete game, tossing the first 'Maddux' of the season when he gave up just three hits and no walks on 93 pitches.

Miami are currently 34-35 on the season, sitting in fourth place out of five in the National League East division. They'll conclude their three-game series with the Pirates on June 14th.
