Malmo got their Allsvenskan title defence back on track with a 2-0 win over Oster at Eleda Stadion, returning to winning ways after picking up just two points from their previous three outings. Newly-promoted Oster are at risk of receiving the "strugglers" tag as they remain in the bottom two with three points to their name.

Draws with AIK and Sirius had earned Malmo mixed reviews given their opponents varying starts to the season, but there were no positives for the champions to take as they fell to a 2-0 loss to Hammarby last week.

Henrik Rydstrom's side were out to put that right on home soil, and though they had considerably less of the ball in the opening 45 minutes, were much more creative when they were in possession.

And they took advantage after 32 minutes, when a low cross from the right from Otto Rosengren caused havoc in the Oster box and was turned in at the back post by Hugo Bolin.

Any hopes the home fans had of the floodgates opening were unmerited, given that despite the visitors' poor form, they had only conceded three times in their previous four outings, and by half-time, they were on course for a fourth 1-0 loss in succession.

However, the chance of an identical score line once again were put to bed 46 seconds into the second half, but unfortunately for the visitors, things didn't change in the manner they were hoping for.

Busanello broke down the left wing and fed Bolin inside the area. He got to the byline and squared the ball across goal to Isaac Kiese Thelin, who applied the simplest of finishes.

That was, in fact, the only shot on target in the second half for either side until deep into added time, but it was job done for the Himmelsblatt, who ensured their winless run did not surpass any they had in last year's Allsvenskan.

Though they have scored fewer goals than any other side in the top half, a third clean sheet of the campaign has seen Malmo rise to fourth in the standings, but still five points shy of leaders AIK.

The Vaxjo side, meanhile, are still searching for a first league win over Malmo since 2006, and for a first point on the road since promotion.
