AIK are still the team making the early running in the 2025 Allsvenskan after they picked up their fifth win in six matches by beating Elfsborg, but chasing hard are Mjallby, who also remained unbeaten with a comfortable home win over Degerfors. Meanwhile, a dream debut salvaged a point for Hammarby away at Hacken.

The league leaders got the job done early at Strawberry Arena in Solna, taking the lead in just the third minute when John Guidetti squared to Johan Hove and he applied the simple finish from eight yards for his third of the season.

The advantage was doubled a little more than 15 minutes later and in great style. Bersant Celina shaped to shoot before clipping a wonderful cross into the box, onto the head of Guidetti, who did the rest.

Despite more than 70 minutes to mount a comeback, Elfsborg seldom looked like scoring, and their three-match winning run came to a whimpering end. Mikkjal Thomassen's side, meanwhile, are up to 16 points from a possible 18.

Mjallby were the highest scorers of the weekend, largely thanks to an Abdoulie Manneh hattrick, as they put four past Degerfors to stay two points shy of AIK and move into second place.

Their opening goal in Hallevik was even quicker than AIK's - Manneh used his strength to break through the visitors' defence and finish coolly after just 105 seconds.

15 minutes later, he doubled his and Mjallby's lead by latching onto Bork Bang-Kittilsen's through ball and guiding the ball home.

Another quarter of an hour passed before MAIF's third of the game and fifth of the season, finished powerfully at the back post by Herman Johansson after he did well to bring a deep cross under his spell.

Early in the second half, the crowd at Strandvallen were on the feet to celebrate Manneh's third goal. His initial effort was blocked, but the ball ricocheted up kindly and he kept his composure to volley the ball low past Rasmus Forsell in the Degerfors goal.

The visitors grabbed a consolation late on through Sebastian Ohlsson to complete the 4-1 score line, leaving the newly-promoted side with three wins and three defeats this season.

Mjallby took second place in the standings from Hammarby, who have won one in their last three after beginning the season with a trio of victories. This time, they were held 1-1 away at Hacken after late drama at both ends of the pitch.

The game was full of chances at either end, yet it looked to be heading for a goalless draw until the 87th minute, when a Samuel Leach cross was headed in by Silas Andersen, to give the hosts the lead.

In response, Hammarby manager through on Moise Kabore for his club debut. He took up his position inside the box ready for a free-kick, which Montader Madjed put right on his head, and he guided the ball past Etrit Berisha with his first touch, not just of the match, but as a Hammarby player.

That goal keeps the Stockholm side within three points of the top, as Hacken move onto seven points with only one win since the opening day.

Going well in sixth place are Norrkoping, who became the latest side to take three points against Varnamo, securing a 3-1 triumph that leaves the home side still searching for a first point in 2025.

Varnamo had early opportunities, but they fell behind on 30 minutes when Sebastian Jorgensen curled the ball into the top corner from just inside the area.

Jorgensen showed excellent composure three minutes later, to keep control of a ball drilled into the area, teeing himself up to volley home Norrkoping's second.

Early in the second half, the hosts had hope when Kenan Bilalovic broke free and finished well, but that hope was snuffed out within four minutes, as Christoffer Nyman became the outright top scorer in the division so far, tapping in his sixth of the campaign after great work at the by-line by Isak Sigurgeirsson.

On Monday, Goteborg grabbed themselves a point at home to GAIS in a 1-1 draw to avoid losing two Gothenburg derbies in as many home matches.

GAIS went in front after a quarter of an hour when William Milovanovic set up Harun Ibrahim for his first of the season. That looked to be enough for just a second win of the season for the Mackerels, until midway through the second half when David Kruse equalised.

It's four draws from six for GAIS, and three in their last three as they sit ninth. Goteborg have improved to one defeat in their last five, and they sit fifth.

There was also a share of the spoils in Uppsala as Sirius drew 1-1 with Halmstad, but only after a screamer had given the visitors the lead.

Midway through the opening half, Yannick Agnero created space for himself, took aim from over 25 yards and rifled the ball that was still rising past Ismael Diawara.

But the lead only lasted three minutes, as Halmstad failed to clear their box and allowed Saba Mamatsashvili to dance his way through the defence and deceive the goalkeeper with his finish.

Sirius sit 13th and Halmstad are one place further back, with the sides picking up one win apiece so far.

Brommapojkarna's scheduled meeting with Djurgarden - due to be played tonight - was postponed owing to the Iron Stoves' UEFA Conference League clash with Chelsea on Thursday. Malmo and Oster will complete round six when they meet tomorrow night.
