Goalkeeper

Hidde Jurjus (Groningen) 9.2

Groningen closed to within three points of the Eredivisie top eight over the weekend after a superb 3-0 home victory against AZ Alkmaar.

Jurjus was faultless between the sticks for the hosts, with the 32-year-old making seven saves throughout the contest, preventing an xG of 1.64.

Defence

Josip Stanisic (Bayern Munich) 9.1

Stanisic produced an excellent all-round display for Bundesliga leaders Bayern as Vincent Kompany’s men eased past Union Berlin 4-0 on Saturday.

The Croatian full-back completed 95% of his passes in the final third, as well as winning two ground duels and making four key clearances.

Bryan Okoh (Auxerre) 8.9

10-man Auxerre secured a crucial three points in their pursuit of Ligue 1 survival, as an unlikely brace from centre-back Okoh helped them to a 3-0 triumph over mid-table Brest.

The Swiss defender opened the scoring with a powerful header from Romain Faivre’s corner, before repeating the trick in the second half with another clinical close-range finish.

David Raum (RB Leipzig) 9

Raum was typically influential in RB Leipzig’s 5-0 dismantling of top-four rivals Hoffenheim on Friday, with the left-back providing an inch-perfect cross for Christoph Baumgartner’s goal.

In addition to his sixth Bundesliga assist of the season, Raum also won all three of his aerial duels and made five clearances.

Midfield

Brajan Gruda (RB Leipzig) 9.6

The second RB Leipzig player to make our team is Germany U21 international Gruda, who had a Friday evening to remember against Hoffenheim.

Florian Thauvin (Lens) 9.5

Thauvin delivered the goods once again for title-chasing Lens, as Pierre Sage’s side thrashed Angers 5-1 to stay within touching distance of PSG at the Ligue 1 summit.

The 33-year-old broke the deadlock with a well-taken volley in the box before providing assists for both of Odsonne Edouard’s goals in a one-sided contest.

Juan Mata (Melbourne Victory) 9.2

Mata is enjoying somewhat of a renaissance at Melbourne Victory this season, and the experienced Spaniard produced another standout performance against Central Coast Mariners on Saturday.

Not only did the former Chelsea and Manchester United midfielder pick up his 13th assist of the A-League campaign, but he also got his name on the scoresheet with a rare headed goal.

Serge Gnabry (Bayern Munich) 9.7

Having been an unused substitute in Bayern’s last two Bundesliga outings, Gnabry marked his return to the starting XI with a bang against Union Berlin.

The German winger found the net in both halves to move up to double digits for the season across all competitions. He also completed 89% of his passes in the final third and won all four of his ground duels.
