Netherlands manager Ronald Koeman has handed Strasbourg striker Emanuel Emegha his maiden senior call-up, with Ajax striker Wout Weghorst struggling with fitness issues.

The 22-year-old Emanuel Emegha, who will join Chelsea next summer, has impressed for Ligue 1 outfit Strasbourg this season, scoring four goals and assisting two in five league games. Last year, the Dutch youngster had a breakthrough season at Strasbourg, scoring 14 goals and providing three assists in the 2024/25 Ligue 1 season.

Emegha was initially left out of Ronald Koeman's Netherlands squad due to the striker only recently having recovered from a hamstring injury.

Emegha was in line to start for the Dutch Under-21 team at last summer's European Championships in Slovakia, but was unable to join after suffering an injury. In nine U21 caps with the Netherlands, Emegha scored three goals.

Wout Weghorst remains with the squad, the KNVB announced, but will have his fitness level re-evaluated before Friday's potentially clinching FIFA World Cup qualifier against Poland.

The Netherlands will complete their FIFA World Cup qualifying campaign with a home game against Lithuania on Monday, November 17th.
