Goalkeeper

Robin Zentner (Mainz) 8.1

Coming off the back of a win against Bayern Munich, Mainz faced another very tricky assignment as they visited high-flying Eintracht Frankfurt on Saturday. Despite taking an early lead, Mainz went down to 10 men after just 20 minutes, making their task even more difficult.

However, they went on to claim a stunning 3-1 win and keep Frankfurt largely at bay, and a lot of that was down to Zentner in goal. Despite Frankfurt having a whopping 34 shots, the German was determined to help his side cling on, making eight saves for his side.

Defence

Wouter Goes (AZ Alkmaar) 8.7

Goes was immense for AZ Alkmaar in his side's tight 1-0 win against FC Twente, looking really mature and accomplished against Ricky van Wolfswinkel.

The Dutchman was in full control throughout the contest, winning nine out of 10 duels and making four interceptions as AZ leapfrogged their opponents in the Eredivisie.

Dean Huijsen (Bournemouth) 8.6

The wonderfully talented Spanish centre-back has broken into the first XI for Bournemouth in recent weeks, and another imperious performance against Manchester United at Old Trafford has confirmed to the world just how good Huijsen is.

Standing at 6′ 5″, Huijsen was imperious against United, comfortably dealing with the threat of strikers Joshua Zirkzee and Rasmus Hojlund, as well as being consistently progressive with the ball at his feet.

He even managed to get on the scoresheet, heading home the opener for Bournemouth as they went on to win 3-0.

Alphonso Davies (Bayern Munich) 8.5

Davies looks to be returning to his very best form for Bayern Munich, and the defender put in an amazing all-round performance against Leipzig on Friday.

The Canadian was a constant menace marauding up and down the left wing, setting up Leroy Sane's goal before scoring a header himself just minutes later as the German giants coasted to a 5-1 win.

Midfield

Rodrygo (Real Madrid) 8.9

After dropping points against Rayo Vallecano in their previous LaLiga outing, Real Madrid needed to bounce back against Sevilla, and the champions did just that, coasting to a 4-2 win.

Rodygo led the way for Madrid, setting up Kylian Mbappe's stunning opener before cooly slotting home just after the half-hour mark to put his side three goals to the good. Despite an iffy start to the season for the club, they now just sit one point off the summit.

Novatus Miroshi (Goztepe) 9.1

In 2022, Sport Republic bought a 70% stake in Turkish club Goztepe, becoming the first foreign investor to buy a Turkish club. Since then, the side has returned to the Super Lig, and have been one of the surprise packages of the 2024/25 campaign.

Against Rizespor on Sunday, Goztepe cruised to a 3-0 victory, and central midfielder Novatus Miroshi shone. The Tanzanian bagged a brace and influenced proceedings to superb effect in the middle of the park, helping his side pick up three points which moved Goztepe into the top four.

Paulo Dybala (Roma) 9.0

Linked with a move away this January, Paulo Dybala showed Roma what they would be missing, scoring two goals and providing an assist for his side in a comfortable win against Parma.

With that brace, Dybala became the third-highest-scoring Argentinean in Serie A history with 127 goals. Only Gabriel Batistuta (184) and Hernan Crespo (153) have scored more.

It has been a tough season for the club, with Claudio Ranieri's men sitting down in 10th. Should he remain at the club, they will be relying on his quality for the rest of the season as they aim to climb the table.

Florian Wirtz (Bayer Leverkusen) 9.4

Wirtz is enjoying yet another wonderful season, and the German continued his relentless form with a masterclass against Freiburg on the weekend.

Despite missing a penalty, Wirtz more than made up for it, scoring later in the game with an emphatic finish as well as registering three assists. After a slow start to the campaign, Bayer Leverkusen look to be picking up steam and will be determined to put up a fight as they aim to retain their Bundesliga title.

Attack

Alexander Isak (Newcastle) 9.2

The Swede is a man in rich goalscoring form. Prior to the weekend, Isak had scored three goals in his previous three Premier League games, and on Saturday, the striker made sure to feast on relegation candidates Ipswich.

In truth, there was some shoddy defending from Ipswich, but in typically clinical fashion, Isak made them pay, bagging his first Premier League hat-trick.

He now has 10 goals in the league this season, meaning only Mohamed Salah, Erling Haaland and Cole Palmer have scored more than him. A complete centre-forward who continues to win games for Newcastle.

Patrik Schick (Bayer Leverkusen) 9.8

Often a striker who plays second fiddle to Victor Boniface, Schick has stepped up to magnificent effect in the absence of the Nigerian.

At the weekend against Freiburg, Schick scored four goals, putting his opponents to the sword as Leverkusen moved four points behind leaders Bayern Munich heading into 2025.

The Czech has scored 10 goals since November with two hat-tricks during that period, showcasing just what an underrated player he is.

Thierno Barry (Villarreal) 8.9

In an unbelievably chaotic game which saw two red cards and seven goals, Villarreal managed to get the better of Leganes, with Barry stealing the headlines with a hat-trick.

The striker showed his goalscoring instinct with two emphatic close-range finishes, as well as bagging from the penalty spot. To cap off his game, he even had a red card overturned by VAR!
