Clara Tauson was supposed to be in action at the WTA 1000 tournament in Madrid for the first time since she pulled out of the Indian Wells at the end of March with a back injury, but the organizers have informed TV2 Sport that the Danish player has withdrawn from the tournament with a shoulder injury

Clara Tauson was supposed to be in action at the WTA 1000 tournament in Madrid on Friday afternoon.

But the Danish tennis star has withdrawn with an injury to her right shoulder, according to an email from the organizers to TV2 Sport.

Tauson has been away from the court for a little over a month to get ready and return to full fitness following inflammation in her back. But now she has unfortunately been hit by an injury again.

And if we are to believe the organizers, it is a new injury as Tauson was in action Thursday in the doubles tournament.

Anna Blinkova will take over Tauson's place in the tournament.
