23:30 CET - Our final game of the night comes from LaLiga, where Rayo Vallecano have started their season with a win, thanks to a 2-0 victory over the 10 men of Granada. Both goals came late on with Alvaro Garcia and Pathe Ciss netting for the Madrid side.

22:56 CET - It's all over in London and Arsenal were made to work very hard for a tight 1-0 win, Martin Odegaard the difference from the penalty spot.

22:40 CET - A first game of the season for AC Milan and a first victory as they see off Bologna comfortably 2-0 at the Stadio Renato Dall'Ara.

22:27 CET - A red card for Takehiro Tomiyasu has made Arsenal's slender lead look more in peril at Selhurst Park, giving Crystal Palace a way back into the contest.

Over in Bologna, no such problems for AC Milan in their Serie A opener, as they lead 2-0 in the closing stages thanks to a goal from Olivier Giroud and a debut strike for Christian Pulisic.

22:10 CET - The Arsenal captain has the breakthrough. Martin Odegaard scores from the spot to give his side the lead after Palace goalkeeper Sam Johnstone had taken down Eddie Nketiah from a quick free-kick. 

22:05 CET - They are back out at Selhurst Park for the second half, and there is some other news for Arsenal fans with former player Thierry Henry (46) named head coach of the country's Under-21s until 2025, the French Football Federation said in a statement on Monday.
