Odense's women's handball team suffered a shock defeat in the Champions League earlier in October, just after the club had fired head coach Jakob Vestergaard. However, at the second attempt, interim coach Mark Strandgaard succeeded in securing a victory in the prestigious European club tournament. On Sunday, Odense achieved a convincing 35–18 away victory over the German champions, Blomberg-Lippe.

By halftime, Odense was already leading 20–10, spearheaded by back Anna Vyakhireva and line player Romée Maarschalkerweerd, while Johanna Bundsen performed well in goal.

Vyakhireva and Maarschalkerweerd shared the title of top goalscorer with six goals each.

The lead was extended further in the second half, resulting in a resounding defeat for the German side.

The match held special significance for German back Nieke Kuhne; she currently plays for Blomberg-Lippe but is set to play in Odense's orange jersey starting in the summer of 2027.

Kuhne was the top scorer for the German home team with four goals, but it was nowhere near enough to trouble the Danish visitors.

With this victory, Odense has five points from five matches in Group B, keeping their hopes of advancing to the knockout stage very much alive.
