Lyon unable to break winless streak with draw against Toulouse

Lyon are now five games without a win after Toulouse's Rafael Ratao cancelled out Tete's first-half opener in the 1-1 draw that piled more pressure on Lyon manager Peter Bosz.

A solid start was necessary for Lyon to build belief within the ranks after a poor opening nine games of their Ligue 1 season.

The Dutchman couldn’t have dreamed of a better start, as Alexandre Lacazette and Tete linked up and the latter’s deflected effort wrong-footed Maxime Dupe in the Toulouse goal.

It would perhaps be unfair on Toulouse to suggest Lyon we purring, but most of the goalmouth action was coming at Dupe’s end of the pitch and the Toulouse stopper had to be quick off his line to smother the ball at the feet of Lacazette who looked set to double Les Gones' advantage before thee break.

Toulouse had Dupe to thank for ensuring the deficit remained at just a single goal, with yet another fine stop to deny Karl Toko Ekambi at least keeping the visitors small chances of finding an equaliser alive.

Ratao came tantalisingly close to capitalising upon that lifeline, but as he touched and turned in the box, his effort came crashing back off the upright.

The Brazilian made no mistake moments later though, pouncing upon a ball which broke favourably off the knee of Zakaria Aboukhlal to slam home a deserved leveller for Toulouse.

With an air of desperation creeping into the Lyon ranks, a Jeff Reine-Adelaide pop-shot from 30 yards just about summed up the position Les Gones found themselves in with 15 minutes left on the clock.

There was to be no way through for Lyon though, with question marks surrounding the future of Bosz after president Jean-Michel Aulas said a “point will be made” after tonight's game.

It now remains to be seen exactly what that point will be after Lyon’s seven-match home head-to-head winning run came to an abrupt halt.
