South Korean badminton queen An Se-young on Sunday smashed her way into the record books as she won the Denmark Open to claim a record 47th career singles title.

An Se-young  recorded a comeback win 21-23, 21-14, 21-18 win over third-ranked Akane Yamaguchi of Japan in the final in Odense, and afterwards the world No. 1 said rewriting records was an inspiration to her as she eclipsed the all-time mark of titles held by Indonesian legend Susi Susanti.

“I want to make a lot of history and break records, but I focus on one match at a time,” An said in an interview with the Badminton World Federation (BWF).

“That is my motivation. The crowds turn out for me, and I’m so happy that people enjoy every match I play."

The Badminton World Federation (BWF) announced on its social media that An's title at the Denmark Open on Sunday was her 47th international championship, one more than the former Indonesian star Susi Susanti.

The BWF noted that titles in regional games are excluded and these records have been kept since 1989.

Not taking team competitions into account, An has this season collected six titles on the BWF World Tour and also won gold medals at the Asian Championships, the BWF World Championships and the Asian Games in 2026.

The South Korean badminton giant has lost just one match all season — in the final of the All England Open in March.

Her next event is the French Open this week. She won the tournament in 2019, 2024 and 2025.
