The Danish mixed doubles pair of Alexandra Boje and Mathias Christiansen were eliminated from the Badminton World Championships in India on Thursday morning.

On Thursday morning (CET), the Danes lost their Round of 16 match to Po-Hsuan Yang and Ling Fang Hu from Taiwan in three sets 13-21, 21-9, 14-21.

This means one of Denmark's major medal hopes at the Badminton World Championships is out of the tournament.

"We are hugely disappointed by this. We had dreamed of a medal and believed it was achievable," Alexandra Bøje told TV 2 Sport.

"I am disappointed and frustrated that we couldn't do more about it," said Mathias Christiansen.
