Heracles Almelo - FC Groningen: 1-2

FC Groningen punched their ticket to the play-offs for UEFA Conference League football after beating Heracles Almelo 2-1 on Sunday.

David van der Werff earned the playoff-chasing visitors an early lead after burying a loose ball in Timo Jansink's goal, but Groningen's advantage wouldn't last long after Tristan van Gilst levelled the score from a counter after 16 minutes.

Tygo Land restored Groningen's lead ten minutes after half-time when his shot was deflected past Jansink, giving Groningen a healthy cushion over Sparta, who were losing 2-1 to Excelsior at the time and eventually lost the game.

Sparta Rotterdam - Excelsior: 2-3

Sparta Rotterdam missed out on a ticket for the Eredivisie play-offs after losing 3-2 to neighbours Excelsior.

Sparta were dealt a challenging hand after youngster Giannino Vianello fired the ball behind his own goalkeeper to put Excelsior in the driver's seat and Sparta in trouble after barely 10 minutes.

Sparta's hopes of qualifying for the play-offs took another massive hit when Arthur Zagré doubled Excelsior's lead shortly after half-time, but were kept alive by Ayoni Santos, who fired a rocket past Stijn van Gassel to keep Sparta within one.

Excelsior looked set to end Sparta's dream once again via Noah Naujoks, who headed in a corner from Gyan de Regt

An injury-time goal from Milan Zonneveld blew life into Sparta and looked to spark a massive comeback when Zonneveld scored a second, but the VAR ruled out the equaliser for handball, a decision that kept Sparta out of the play-offs.

AZ - NAC Breda: 3-3

Already-relegated NAC Breda ended their two-year stay in the Eredivisie with a 3-3 draw away at AZ on Sunday.

It took AZ fewer than ten minutes to punish the lacklustre NAC Breda defence - Sven Mijnans easily escaped between the defenders and fired AZ in front with a low shot into the far corner.

Mexican World Cup hopeful Mateo Chavez doubled AZ's lead inside 12 minutes, taking advantage of the sleeping NAC Breda defence yet again and firing it past Daniel Bielica.

Moussa Soumano scored NAC's first with a header in the second half, after which the Frenchman levelled the score ten minutes later. Finnish talisman Juho Talvitie then earned NAC the lead in the dying minutes, but didn't do enough to win the Breda side the win, with Mexx Meerdink scoring a brilliant injury-time goal to send NAC Breda to the Keuken Kampioen Divisie with a 3-3 draw.

FC Utrecht - Fortuna Sittard: 2-0

FC Utrecht head into the Eredivisie play-offs for UEFA Conference League football with a 2-0 win over Fortuna Sittard in the bag.

Dani de Wit earned FC Utrecht the lead with under ten minutes to go before half-time, deflecting Gjivai Zechiël's shot past a helpless Matthijs Branderhorst. Striker David Min put the final score on the board in the 65th minute with a calm finish, giving Utrecht confidence ahead of Thursday's play-off match against sc Heerenveen.
