According to Sky Sports and multiple other outlets, Chelsea have reached an agreement with Mauricio Pochettino (51) to be their new head coach from the beginning of next season.

Blues legend Frank Lampard is currently in charge on an interim basis after taking over from Graham Potter in April, but he has only managed to pick up one win in eight games, losing six of them.

The club currently sit in 11th in the league standings and without European football for next season after their quarter-final exit from the Champions League.

Chelsea won the Champions League in 2021, but will end this season without any silverware and are stumbling towards their worst campaign since 1993-94 when they finished 14th under Glenn Hoddle despite their new U.S. owners' huge outlay on players.

Pochettino, who favours a high-pressing and attacking style of play, will be tasked with reviving their fortunes.

The Argentine has been out of action since the summer of 2022 when he departed PSG. He won one Ligue 1 title and a Coupe de France during his 18-month stint.

He will return to England where he has already had some success, impressing at Southampton and Chelsea's London rivals Tottenham.

Under Pochettino, Spurs reached the 2019 Champions League final and became Premier League title contenders as they finished in the top four for four straight seasons from 2015-19 before he was fired.

Chelsea travel to Manchester City and Manchester United, before hosting Newcastle United in their final game of the season.
