The Betway Premiership is back after over three weeks of inaction due to the international break and the MTN8 final on Saturday.

It is a set of fixtures brought forward with four South African clubs in CAF competition action this coming weekend.

Mamelodi Sundowns must come down from their high of winning the MTN8 decider, while Pirates must get over that disappointment.

Here is a quick guide to the games.

Kaizer Chiefs vs Stellenbosch FC

Kaizer Chiefs last played on September 20 when they drew 0-0 away at Lamontville Golden Arrows, one of four draws in their last five games, a worrying trend if they have genuine title ambitions this season.

They host a much-changed Stellenbosch side who have been in patchy form at best, with two wins, three draws and a single defeat in their last six games. You never quite know what you will get from them.

Chiefs have taken seven points from a possible nine at home this season, their only dropped points coming in a 1-1 draw with Sundowns.

But they have lost their last two to Stellies, and the fixture before that went down to penalties in the Carling Knockout after a 0-0 draw.

The teams have clashed 20 times before, with Chiefs winning 10, to go with five victories for Stellenbosch and five draws.

Orlando Pirates vs TS Galaxy

Pirates host TS Galaxy for the first time since they humbled them 6-0 in March and have never lost a home tie against the Rockets.

They have hosted the Mpumalanga team six times and won four of those, to go with two draws, while their overall record has seen them win seven of the 12 previous clashes.

That does include three previous wins for Galaxy, but never in Soweto.

Pirates remain unbeaten in the league this season in the defence of their title.

They have, in fact, not lost any of their last 20 league games (W15 D5), since a 2-1 defeat to Sundowns in February. That remains their only league loss since August 2025 (P35 W27 D7 L1).

Galaxy have proven tough to beat on the road with a single win and four draws in their last five games, but that win at Marumo Gallants is their only one in the league since August 2025.

Richards Bay vs Mamelodi Sundowns

Sundowns will be heavy favourites for this one, with the only slight question of whether they can come down from the mental high of Saturday’s MTN8 decider.

They were held to a 0-0 draw on their last visit to Richards Bay in April, but before that won all 10 previous clashes with the KwaZulu-Natal side in one of the most dominant records against any team.

They have scored 25 goals in the 11 previous clashes and conceded only three.

Coupled with that, Richards Bay have lost their last three games and are winless in their last 12 games (D7 L5) since winning at TS Galaxy in April.

Durban City vs AmaZulu

There is a local derby as high-flying AmaZulu make the short trip to Durban City.

They won 1-0 on their last trip there in May and also claimed a victory by the same scoreline in the reverse league fixture last season.

Usuthu are having their best start to a PSL campaign with five wins and a draw in their seven games, their only loss coming against Sundowns. Arthur Zwane’s side are currently in third.

It has been an up-and-down start to the season for City, who have roped in Eric Tinkler as their new coach.

He has a history of starting well at clubs, so will look to get off to a flyer here.

City are unbeaten at home this season with three draws and a win, and last lost when Usuthu came calling in May.
