Mohafe only joined Gallants at the start of the season from Polokwane City, where he had enjoyed a successful three-year spell. He will be replaced on an interim basis by another of his assistants, Trevor Mathiane.
But Gallants failed to win any of their five opening fixtures of the new league season, drawing two and losing three, conceding 10 goals in the process. Only bottom side Kruger United have shipped more (11).
“The club will not be commenting further on the circumstances surrounding the decision or engaging on the merits of the matter," Gallants said in a statement.
"In the interim, second assistant coach Trevor Mathiane will assume responsibility as Interim Head Coach, while the Club continues its search for a new Head Coach.”
The move comes the same day it was confirmed the club has sold winger Bheki Mabuza to Orlando Pirates, a deal which will see Daniel Msendami and Abdoulaye Mariko move in the opposite direction on loan for the remainder of the campaign.
Sekhukhune United sacked Cedric Kaze last week, while Siwelele have also released Lehlohonolo Seema of his duties.
