Six days after winning the IHF Men’s Club World Championship, Veszprém left little chance for Partizan, to pull off a surprise despite the match taking place in Belgrade.
It took about five minutes for Veszprém goalkeeper Emil Nielsen to warm up, but as soon as the Dane settled into his rhythm between the posts, the visitors broke away on the scoreboard.
With seven saves in the first quarter, Nielsen (24 saves total) helped Veszprém to a four-goal lead at that point. Veszprém took an eight-goal advantage four minutes before the interval before going back to the locker room leading by five.
The second half was also one-way traffic, despite Uladzislau Kulesh scoring a few bangers from long-distance.
Veszprém’s advantage hit the 10-goal mark in the 53rd minute, when Hugo Descat scored into the empty goal. By that point, it was long clear the Hungarian side would travel home with two more points.
